Babies
by Anne Gomez Huff

i hide within the
narrow
width of
my poems,
slowly I crawl
the clean and even
or
un
even stair
case
of
structure

to lay down
next to the lowercase i
that i like to call me
& joined, we bring forth
in scrawled ecstacy, a constellation of words
which are written again & again
pushing through my narrow tunnel from
which i create and provide

i nourish words
because they are my own
blue & black skinned babies
obediently sucking on the deliberate flow
spilling from
my metal-tipped breast
& my words are recieved once more
loops & arches at a time,
a paper galaxy of siblings
as reliable & constant
as the stain of ink
